Quemar las naves (Burn the ships ie Burn the Bridges) is the first
feature film by Mexican director Francisco Franco. The film depicts
experiences that many people had as teenagers on the quest for freedom
and for making independent decisions for themselves. The director
presents the story of Sebastian and Helena who are brothers and live in
Zacatecas (Mexico) with their mother, who is terminally ill. Locked in
an old colonial house that suffers the ravages of time, the two
teenagers have a close relationship of dependency that allows them to
rely on mutual support. After the death of their mother and the
appearance of a wild, bad boy (Juan), who comes from another town and
starts a gay relationship with the brother, Sebastian and Helena are now
starting a confrontation that leads them to change their views about
life
